Saol: Live Action

An Tobar Nua

In 2021 we were approached by An Tobar Nua to pitch for the creation of an educational docuseries.

SAOL is a media resource designed to provoke discussion along with curated activities to be used in the classroom. There are six episodes covering six different topics - Purpose, Peace, Hope, Freedom, Happiness and Love.

The project spanned 16 months and we were tasked with producing the entire series from start to finish. This included script development, concept development, storyboarding, production and post production for both Live action and Animation. Not to mention all the additional tasks such as research, location scouting, prop sourcing, wardrobe, etc.

What made this project so successful was the level of trust established between us, An Tobar Nua and the production team in Ireland. Each and every scene was ambitious with unique creative challenges and we all had to be on the same page to believe that we could pull off what we wanted to achieve. Hats off to Becka (Sons of Graham), Ruth (An Tobar Nua) and George Griffin (Director) who epitomised this trust and made this project a labour of love from day one.

Ruth Burke spearheaded the entire vision of SAOL, she also became the on-location producer for the project and even hosted the entire series on-screen!

Our very own creative producer Becka worked closely with Ruth developing at every stage of the project, bringing bold and brave ideas to the table and pushing everyone to deliver more.

We’re really proud of this project and would love to share it with you but it’s currently only available as a resource for teachers across Ireland. We can however, share this sneak peak of highlights.
